Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University (ATMU) is one of the active members of the Erasmus+ project "Establishment and Development of Quality Assurance Centers in Azerbaijan Universities, EQAC", has been implemented since 2017 under the coordination of the Baku Business University and funded by the European Union.

The aim of the project is to bring the quality principles related to the activities of higher education institutions in line with international standards, along with the establishment of Quality Control Centers in Azerbaijani higher education institutions.

Important achievements of the project:

  • Preparation of an Action plan for the establishment of the Quality Assurance Center;
  • Development and evaluation of a pilot program on the specialty "Tourism business";
  • Training with a group of 10 pilot teachers and about 30 students;
  • Participation of ATMU administrative and academic staff members in events and training dedicated to quality improvement held at Baku Business University;
  • Preparation of new syllabus samples;
  • Development of monitoring rules for peer monitoring.

In addition, in order to create a Centralized Electronic System of Quality Management at the university, it is planned to implement QPR Software and develop a Quality Assurance Charter.

Erasmus+ PICASP project

Full name of the project: Pilot Courses in Practice Enterprise to implement the University-Enterprise Cooperation for the development of Caspian Area, PICASP

The aim of the project is to implement and coordinate university-industry cooperation with the participation of the business community, especially small and medium-sized businesses. The objectives of the project are the development of activities in the field of project business management, strengthen the exchange of best practices with partners representing the European Union, the participation of stakeholders in the development of curricula and employment of graduates, setting standards for ensuring sustainable quality.

Full name of the project: Establishment of the Rectors' Conference (Council), ECAR

Project start date: January 15, 2021

Project estimated completion date: January 14, 2024

Total budget of the project: 937,797.00 euros

The purpose of the project:

Development of educational institutions, higher and postgraduate education, organization of professional development and retraining of educational process, scientific work, scientific-pedagogical and other staff with the direct participation of the Ministry of Education, generalization, and dissemination of positive experience, improvement of the education system in the Republic to establish the Rectors' Conference in order to coordinate the activities of the university in the field of social protection, strengthening the influence of the university on the socio-economic and cultural development of the Republic. The organization of the conference will ensure that the partners interested in establishing a network between the Ministry of Education - higher education institutions - industry will meet regularly to exchange views and make new decisions.

The responsibilities of the Council are as follows:

  • To promote scientific, educational, cultural, and economic cooperation between Azerbaijani higher education institutions and to promote dialogue with other national and international organizations.
  • Development of principles and standards in the higher education system. To ensure intensive meetings and dialogues between government agencies, educational institutions, and the business world in order to support the equal implementation of the Education Law, Education Standard, educational strategies adopted in the Republic of Azerbaijan in all universities.
  • Create a national education network.
  • To support the balanced development of the higher education system, which consists of all types of higher education institutions.
  • To form and submit opinions on issues important for the development of science, culture, and education in Azerbaijan.

Key activities will include:

  • Establishment of a conference of rectors
  • Preparation of the charter of the conference
  • Defining the structure of the conference, management and budget, membership rules
  • Preparation of a five-year strategic plan
  • Prepare an action plan
  • Trainings for the administrative board of the conference
  • Implementation of the annual action plan of the conference

Creative Spark HEE Programme

Full name of the project: Creative Spark: Higher Education Institution Program

Project start date: January 2021

Project estimated completion date: December 2021

Total project budget: £ 24,703

The main objectives of the program are to support new project ideas to develop organizational skills and contribute to the development of the creative industry. The program also aims to support new cooperation opportunities to develop creative economies in countries facing unemployment, despite the great potential of young people. The program, funded by the British Council with the support of the United Kingdom, was launched in 2018 and aims to expand the network of cooperation between the South Caucasus, Central Asia, Ukraine, and the United Kingdom.

The Azerbaijan Tourism and Management University has joined the Creative Spark: Higher Education Institution Program in 2021 in partnership with the Azerbaijan State University of Economics (UNEC) and coordinated by the University of Greenwich in the United Kingdom. In order to train young entrepreneurs in higher education institutions, the project identified priorities such as increasing opportunities for the development of skills of students and teachers, contributing to the establishment of entrepreneurship centers, the integration of local industrial ecosystems.

It should be noted that within the program, 20 students and 5 staff members of our university had the opportunity to benefit from the online English course "Learn English Select" and participate in the seminar "Intellectual Property Fundamentals" of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) free of charge.
